Selene Webb

A sophisticated flat-lay of a hardback mystery novel titled only by a blank, matte cover design, featuring an embossed silhouette of a seated dog and a subtle collar-shaped motif. The book rests on a dark walnut desk beside a vintage-style magnifying glass, a leather dog leash coiled neatly, and a fountain pen poised on an open notebook with faint, unreadable scribbles. Soft, directional lamplight from the upper left casts long, elegant shadows, evoking a quiet, late-night writing session. Shot from directly above with photographic realism and a shallow depth of field that gently blurs the desk edges, the mood is refined, enigmatic, and professional, perfectly suited for an author’s homepage hero image.

Books
A detailed, photographic still life of research materials for a mystery author: a spread of open reference books with tiny, illegible text, a folded city map marked by small, abstract symbols, and a neatly arranged collection of dog training tools—clicker, leash, and a single, pristine training dumbbell. Everything rests on a textured, dark oak table. Overhead, cool, diffused daylight from a skylight mixes with the warmer glow of a desk lamp, creating nuanced highlights on the metal and leather surfaces. Captured from a slightly elevated three-quarter angle with moderate depth of field, the composition feels methodical, investigative, and refined, ideal for an “About the Series” or process-focused page.
